One of the neat things about XP was its secure login screen, a user would have to hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE, then manually enter the username and password to login. This was one way of “hiding” user accounts but it is more prevalent on domains.
To enable the same functionality for Windows 7, login as an administrator and open Local Security Policy, one way we to do this is by running “secpool.msc”.
Note: You must still enable the “hidden” administrator account to gain access to it, otherwise you will see an account disabled dialog.
Your Windows 7 machine is now more secure than it was 3 minutes ago.
